For an enquiry to happen, the right person usually needs to:

1. See your business.
2. Understand what you offer.
3. Recognise that it is relevant to them.
4. Trust you enough to consider taking action.
5. Know exactly what to do next.
6. Reach a page, form or contact method that works.

If one of those steps is unclear, you can post regularly without receiving the response you expected.

Does posting consistently still matter?

Before adding more posts to your calendar, check whether your existing activity is helping someone move towards an enquiry.

Are the right people seeing your content?

Reach is only useful when it includes people who may genuinely need your product or service.

A large audience that is outside your service area, cannot buy from you or is interested for the wrong reason may create views and reactions without producing enquiries.

Ask:

• Who is this post specifically for?
• What problem, need or goal does it connect with?
• Is that person likely to use this platform?
• Would they recognise themselves in the opening sentence?
• Does the content make sense to someone who has never heard of the business?

Instead of trying to speak to everyone, make each post useful to a recognisable type of customer.

Can someone quickly understand what you offer?

A potential customer may discover one post and then visit your profile.

At that point, your profile needs to answer several questions quickly:

• What does this business provide?
• Who is it for?
• Where is the business located or who can it serve?
• Why might someone choose it?
• What should a potential customer do next?

If the profile is filled with general inspiration, vague industry language or a list of services without context, the visitor may not understand whether the business is relevant to them.

Read your bio and recent posts as though you know nothing about the business. Would the offer still be clear?

Clear messaging does not have to sound pushy. It should simply help the right person understand what you do and whether it may suit them.

Does your content help someone make a decision?

Posting regularly can become a production exercise. The goal becomes filling the calendar rather than helping a customer.

A potential customer may need more than a reminder that your business exists. They may need help understanding:

• The problem you solve.

• What makes one option different from another.

Are you giving people enough reason to trust you?

People do not always enquire the first time they see a business.

They may visit the profile, read several posts, check the website or look for evidence that the business is credible and suitable.

Trust can be supported by:

• Clear information about the person or team behind the business.
• Real examples of the work, when appropriate and permitted.
• An explanation of the process.
• Consistent contact and service information.
• Thoughtful answers to common questions.
• Reviews or testimonials that are genuine and used with permission.

Trust is not created by saying that a business is trustworthy. It is built by making the business understandable, consistent and easy to assess.

Is there one clear next step?

A post can be useful and relevant but still leave the reader unsure what to do.

“Contact us” may be appropriate in some situations, but it is often too broad. Contact you about what? Through which method? What will happen after they do?

A clearer next step might be:

• View the service details.
• Check availability.
• Request a quote.
• Book an introductory appointment.
• Send a message with a specific question.
• Apply for a focused review.
• Read a related guide before deciding.

The next step should match how ready the reader is.

Someone who has just identified a problem may not be ready to purchase a complete service. They may be ready for a useful guide, a small diagnostic step or a clearer explanation of their options.

Use one primary action rather than giving the reader several competing directions.

Does the page after the click continue the conversation?

Social media is only one part of the enquiry journey.

If a post sends someone to your website, the destination page needs to continue the same message. A visitor may leave if they reach a generic homepage, cannot find the offer mentioned in the post or encounter a confusing form.

Check:

• Does the page headline match what the post promised?
• Is the offer explained in plain language?
• Is it clear who the offer is for?
• Can the visitor understand what happens next?
• Does the form work on a phone?
• Are unnecessary questions making the first step feel difficult?
• Does the visitor receive confirmation after submitting?

The problem may not be the social post. It may be what happens immediately after the click.

Are you measuring the path to an enquiry?

Likes and comments can tell you whether people interacted with a post, but they do not show the whole customer journey.

Start with the business outcome you want, then look at the steps leading to it.

Useful questions include:

• Are the posts reaching the intended audience?
• Are people visiting the profile?
• Are they clicking the relevant link?
• Are they reaching the enquiry page?
• Are they starting the form?
• Are they completing it?
• Are enquiries being recorded correctly?
• Which posts or channels contributed to those visits?

You do not need to monitor every available number. Choose measurements that help you understand whether people are moving towards the outcome you actually want.

What should you fix first?

Avoid changing your posting frequency, visual style, content topics, offer and website all at once. If everything changes, it becomes difficult to tell what helped.

Start with this order:

1. Audience: Are you reaching and speaking to a relevant customer?
2. Clarity: Can they quickly understand what you offer?
3. Content: Does your content address real customer questions and decisions?
4. Trust: Can they see enough to feel comfortable taking the next step?
5. Action: Is there one clear and appropriate call to action?
6. Destination: Does the website, form or contact method continue the journey?
7. Measurement: Can you see where people are progressing or dropping away?

Find the earliest weak point and address that first.

If people are seeing the posts but not visiting the profile, review the content and audience fit.

If they visit the profile but do not click, review the offer, bio and next step.

If they reach the website but do not enquire, review the destination page, form and message continuity.
