Safety & Style Glass Fencing
Remember the days when every house had shower curtains? It’s no longer the case. Most new bathrooms now come with glass shower enclosures. It’s the same with pool fencing. Pool barriers are required by the Building Regulations 1989 Part 10 38B which is enforced by the local government. The whole idea is provide safety around the pool and save lives of young children who don’t know how to swim.
To meet the guidelines, many swimming pool owners installed “normal”, steel tubular fence, putting their pool behind steel bars. Such fence provided security, but it spoilt the beauty of the backyard, making it look so much smaller.
Glass Pool Fencing – Perth
Glass pool fencing provides a great alternative to steel tubular pool fencing. Having a glass fence in front of the pool makes the backyard look larger and it adds a lot of style to the whole of pool area.
Safety & Style is a Perth based glass fence company specialising in installation safety glass pool fences in Perth and WA country areas. The company is very serious about the legal requirements of pool fencing and compliance with the appropriate Australian Standards and council guidelines.
Safety & Style install fencing for new pools, as well as removing the old steel fence and installing glass for existing pools.
Swimming Pool Fencing Safety
The glass fencing used by Safety & Style complies with the Australian Standards AS2208 – Safety Glazing Materials in Buildings and AS1926.1 – Swimming Pool Safety.
AS 2208 is a standard test performed on glass by creating impact on the glass using a 46kg bag to simulate human impact. The glass must be strong enough to withstand that. In addition, if broken the fractures of glass must be harmless enough to minimise the likelihood of injuries.
AS1926.1 provides a list of requirements in regards to the structure and functionality of the pool fence and pool fencing gates. It is important to choose a contractor who will follow and comply with the above requirements.

Yeah, glass pool fencing seems to be the new trend. I see a lot of friends replacing the old steel fences with glass. It looks so much better!
I went to Bunnings to check out their glass fencing, but their fence posts look very flimsy. I’m not sure if they are strong enough. Where do these people source the glass from?
No sure about bunnings, but glass pool fence installers here in perth get their glass from a place in malaga (Allied products, I think) and one in Fremantle. And then, there is Cooling Brothers near the airport. I think some of the glass is imported, but is made according to AU standards.
The framless glass just looks so good.
That’s pretty cool looking, but what happens when you drain the pool to skate in it. I’m guessing a skateboard could break the glass.
Not only pretty but also good security if you have kids or pets
Glass is a great option for pool fencing. I know of a few people who upgraded their pool fence from steel to glass.
These people also do standard tubular pool fencing too. Mixed with glass, it’s pretty good. There are many fencing styles to choose from.
There are many glass fence DIY kits out there. People buy them and then don’t know what to do. This website http://www.glassfenceinstaller.com/ deals just with that. They can come and install that DIY. Quality work in Perth.
It is very good security, but you should keep the close all the time.
