Home Insulation Rebate
The Australian Energy Efficient Homes Package aims to install ceiling insulation in Australian homes making them more energy efficient; to boost the economy and to create jobs. This practical step will help households reduce their energy use and cut their power bills by around $200 a year which can potentially increase the comfort and value of their homes.
Home Insulation Program
The Home Insulation Program provides assistance of up to $1,200 to install ceiling insulation. The assistance is available to eligible owner-occupiers, landlords and tenants; this applies from the 3rd of February, 2009 and will run for 2 years, as long as government funding is still available.
Who is eligible?
Home Owner if you:
- Are a home owner-occupier – that is, you live in your own home;
- Don’t already have ceiling insulation or have ceiling insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (please see the early installation guidelines for more information)
- Have not been granted assistance under the solar hot water rebate program since the rebate was increased to $1,200 on 3 February 2009;
- Arrange installation by an authorized installer (Premium Installation is a registered insulation installer with the Australia government)
- Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over.
Landlords / Renters if you:
- Are an eligible landlord;
- Are an eligible tenant of a home owned by an eligible landlord with the landlord’s permission to install insulation
- Don’t already have ceiling insulation or have ceiling insulation that is deemed as having negligible effectiveness (please see the early installation guidelines for more information)
- Arrange installation by an authorized installer (Premium Installation is a registered insulation installer with the Australia government)
- Are an Australian citizen or permanent resident aged 18 years or over.
